The Roman Catholic Church is undergoing a profound historical transformation. The Second Vatican Council represented a necessary and courageous step to bring a centuries-old institution closer to the educated individual of the modern era. It marked a theological shift toward a mature, rational faith. Yet today, sixty years later, we witness efforts by certain conservative circles to reverse this development and turn the clock back to the pre-conciliar era.

If the Church fails to communicate with the educated person of the 21st century in the language of science and sincere pastoral dialogue, its old rigid structures will inevitably collapse. Only what can withstand empirical reality will remain.
